Youth Advisory Committee

The Youth Advisory Committee is a student leadership group interested in staying substance-free and making a positive impact in their school and the community. Our youth councils work on prevention-related educational activities that are student-focused, such as Use Your Cube and SAMHSA’s National Prevention Week.

National Prevention Week

National Prevention Week is an annual health observance dedicated to increasing public awareness of substance use and mental health disorders. Our Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) members create projects for National Prevention Week that promote awareness around preventing underage drinking and alcohol misuse and preventing prescription and opioid drug misuse.

On May 2nd, Community Prevention Resources and Eldorado Middle School Youth Advisory Committee kicked off “THE SCOOP” for National Prevention Week during their annual PBIS day. During the event for National Prevention Week students played games like “Find the Scoop”, “Toss the Scoop”, and “Stack the Scoop” to promote positive choices and win prizes. Students also took time in the chill zone to relax and enjoy a free ice cream scoop provided by the Eldorado 4-Ways Dairy Barn.

A big THANK YOU to Eldorado Middle School Youth Advisory Committee, EMS school staff, and 4-Ways Dairy Barn for making the day so delicious!
